Energy Programs
What is a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)?
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a network of home battery systems that work together to support the electrical grid during peak demand periods. California utilities like SCE and PG&E offer incentive programs that pay homeowners to contribute stored energy back to the grid when it's needed most. Participating homeowners earn credits or payments while helping stabilize the grid and reduce the need for expensive peaker plants.
